Christmas Wishlist

christmas wishlist

christmas wishlist by cleopatrajonez featuring diamond stud earrings

I haven’t really been in the Christmas spirit lately. I’m not really sure why, just haven’t really been into it. Maybe it’s working retail for the second christmas in a row and having christmas suddenly be a big part of my job, but I just haven’t really been feeling it. To try and get more into the christmas spirit I figured i’d do some christmas-y posts to help myself, and possibly you too, get into the christmas spirit.

My christmas list this year is admitedly pretty lame, I honestly couldn’t think of much I really wanted this year. This is probably because this year i’m regularly employed and could buy most of the things I was really wanting before Christmas. Anyway here are a combination of things from my christmas wislist and my after christmas sales wishlist.

1. Duo boots. I’ve been wanting some Duo boots for awhile, as it’s quite a challenge to find wide calf boots that I like and that fit me. These ones from duo are perfect, but come with a hefty price tag. I have some money saved for them, so I asked for a little money to add to my boot fund for christmas.

2. Makeup Brushes. I’ve been wanting to experiment more with makeup recently and have come to the realization that I need better ( or, you know, some) makeup brushes.

3. Leather Pants. I bought these a couple months ago and ended up returning because they were too big. I never bought another pair in the right size and they’re on sale now so i’m thinking i may do that after christmas.

4. CZ stud earrings. I love the look of diamond stud earrings, they’re simple yet chic. I’ve had some faux ones before but have lost them so I asked for a new pair.

5. Pajamas. Yeah you know you’re getting old when you ask for pajams for christmas, but I need and want a good pair of pajamas. exciting right?

6.  Cute shirts to go with my leather skirt. I bought an ASOS leather skirt as a birthday present to myself last month (outfit photos to come). I love the skirt to death but I only have a few tops that I really like paired with it. So I’ve been on the lookout for some cute tops to go with it.

7. Stila liquid eyeliner. I’ve been using a drugstore liquid eyeliner that’s pretty good but not great, so I figure I should try a better quality one and see if that makes a difference.

Fall Wishlist

Fall Wishlist

Can you believe it’s almost September? seems like summer just flew by. As sad as I am to see the warm weather slowly fade I am excited for a new season. This season has me particularly excited as many of it’s trends are a bit edgier and things I wouldn’t normally wear but have always wanted to add an element of to my wardrobe. Below are the four trends I’m obsessed with this season:

1. Leather Skirts: I’ve been kind of obsessed with leather this season and it all started when I saw a leather skirt on Asos. The Asos one is currently out in black and is a tad expensive so I’m toying with the idea of getting one from leathercult.com or going the affordable route and getting a faux leather skirt from somewhere. I’m leaning towards the former, but we’ll see. I love the look of the pleated skirt as well as the pencil skirt. I think a leather pencil skirt could be easily thrifted so I’m keeping a look out for those in the thrifts, but I’m more skeptical about the pleated version that i’m obsessed with so I may buy one new.

2. Chunky Knits: I’m currently in love of the look of oversized knits with skinny pants. I already have some cardigans and sweaters I know will work well with this trend. Luckily this is also a super easy trend to thrift. So, I’ve been searching the thrift stores for some and know i’ll find some great sweaters soon.

3. Lady Blouses: I’ve never really been one for blouses, but I’m kind of in love with them now. They work well with pants and skirts and sort of bring a aire of sophistication to any look (in my opinon). I have a few blouses I’ve thrifted that will work for this trend, will keep looking for blouses at thrift stores, and may buy a few new ones as well.

4. Skinny Pants: After a season of flouncy skirts and dresses I find myself craving structure and pants. I love these skinny trousers that are hot this season. I love the more modern twist on a wardrobe staple and plan to add a few to my wardrobe. This is harder to thrift so I think I’ll end up buying most of these new.

Thinking outside of my style comfort box

leather and sheer

Maybe it’s the extreme heat or all the flouncy skirts I’ve been wearing so far this summer, but for some reason I’m craving neutrals, blacks, leather and sheer. I’ve been thinking about my wardrobe and I’ve found myself craving slightly edgier pieces.  This sort of look is a little outside what I usually go for, as there is no color and lots of black, but I kind of love that. I’m having visions of neutral sheer blouses with skinny black pants and leather, things I wouldn’t have pick previously. These visions aren’t exactly season appropriate, it seems a bit looney to be thinking of leather in the recent heat wave we’ve been having, but I can’t help when inspiration hits. Plus, a lot of these looks could work for summer given many of the tops are sheer or light weight. I’m trying to save some money so these things will have to wait for a little while, which is fine since they’re really mostly fall/winter appropriate. But when labor day sales hit, watch out!

Summer Wishlist

Summer Wishlist

Summer Wishlist by cleopatrajonez featuring a lace dress

With warmer weather, green grass and buds on trees I find myself pining for the long warm days of summer. Of course this also means dreaming up outfits for those warm summer days and nights. The list above is a collection of things I’m currently looking for in thrift stores, possibly DIY projects and some items I’m contemplating buying retail. This set is maxi free because I’ve recently acquired two maxi skirts, so they’re no longer on the top of my look-for list.

1. Lace dress. I haven’t been sure whether or not to get a lace dress for awhile. Now I’m kind of sold on the idea and am on the look out for a cute lace dress.

2. A Cute pair of wedges. Though I have a pair of cute thrifted wedges I’m still on the lookout for a nice pair of strappy wedges. I’m also looking for some more flats since most of mine have seen better days.

3.  Retro inspired Glasses. Though I still love my current glasses I’ve been pining for a new pair for a while. I’m pretty into the retro inspired styles that are trendy at the moment. I figure since my current glasses are pretty classic I can go for a trendier look. At first I wanted a wayfarer but now I’m leaning towards the half-rim wayfarer-esque ones above.

4. A cute and easy summer dress. I have a bunch of dresses but I’m always on the lookout for a fun flirty summer dress . Basically a dress that’s light and breezy and works well from day to night.

5. Black and white striped T. I’ve been looking for a while for a chunkier black and white striped T-shirt. I plan to pair it with my new maxi skirts for a cute and casual look. So far I’ve had no luck at the thrift store and am tempted to buy the one above from Zara.

6. Collar. Collars have been trendy or awhile but for one reason or another I haven’t acquired any clothes with collars or any detachable ones. I’m currently looking for a detachable one that tickles my fancy. I’d love to find a really cool vintage one or a cheap one. I’ve also seen some really cool peter pan collar DIY’s that I might try as well.

7. Chambray button down. I’ve been looking for a chambray button down for the last month or so. This is another thing I plan to pair with my new maxi’s. I’ve found some in thrift stores but none were perfect, so the search goes on. The one above is from Old Navy and I’m slightly tempted to buy it, but I still have that voice in the back of my head that knows I can find one for cheap at the thrift store.

8. Colored Pants. I didn’t jump on this trend when it emerged this fall but I’m now ready to embrace the look. I got some cobalt pants from Target that I love and now colored pants have made it onto my list of things to look for at the thrift store.
